A Tall Figure crossed the balcony, adorned by a thick, hooded dark navy cloak swaying in the breeze as she approached Queen Serenity. Respectfully, she dropped to her left knee a couple feet out from the Queen. “Queen Serenity. I was informed that you requested my presence?” The Queen only half regarded the woman kneeling behind her, not turning to meet her gaze. The mission was simple enough to understand. A mother could sense when something was amiss. She was certain that the Princess was unhappy, likely to be off gallivanting about places where she didn’t belong. She was to ensure Princess Serenity was returned to the Moon Palace swiftly and safely. The Queen turned slowly to regard the cloaked figure before her, with a brisk wave of her hand, dismissing the others who lingered.
“Why yes. I summoned you for your unique skills.” Raising her eyebrow in reserved curiosity, “You are as fast as they say, perhaps? Able to move like the wind? Mysterious and unseen, yet quite effective?” The kneeling woman brushed aside the short, sandy blonde hair that dropped into her gaze before nodding. “Yes your Majesty. I am capable of everything you mention. I am the wind.”
The Queen smiled knowingly, “Then you are more than capable of keeping my rather lively daughter where she belongs.” Taking a deep breath, her hands coming to meet gracefully at her waist, “I fear her respect for me and her obligations are waning. Being the dreamer that she is, I realize that she won’t do as I ask.” Meeting the gaze of the kneeling woman, “You may have noticed, I brought her inner court here on a permanent basis. They will protect her and keep her in line to a degree. However, I require you to ensure that when she evades their security that you are there.”
The sandy blonde woman bowed her head respectfully. “I understand, Queen Serenity. Thank you for trusting me with the Princess, I shall not disappoint you.” Rising to her feet, the tall figure bowed at the waist, pulled the hood over her head and quietly slipped away from the balcony. The heavy steps of her dark navy boots echoed loudly through the Moon Castle’s marbled halls. Servants cast worried gazes towards the seemingly menacing cloaked figure. Approaching the corridor she heard the bright chatter of the Inner Senshi, laughing about cookies and other such nonsense. Shaking her head disapprovingly turning towards the hall that lead to Princess Serenity’s chamber.
Pressing her ear against the door, expecting to hear the shuffling about of the Princess, she was surprised by a dull silence. Opening the door and seeing the room devoid of its keeper. “Hmmm, seems the Queen was right to suspect you’d sneak away…” The woman muttered to herself. The tenor of the wind seemed to tell her that she may have to look farther than the moon’s gardens to recover Princess Serenity.
Walking to Serenity’s balcony, the woman noticed a spot on the railing, where the paint seemed slightly more faded than the rest. Moving to that spot, gripping the railing as the fading suggested, she was facing the blue green planet of Earth. ‘Peculiar Girl’, she remarked inwardly, before pulling the hensin rod from her cloak focusing upon its power to teleport her to the Earth in pursuit of the Moon Princess.

Princess Rei playfully chewed her lower lip as she reached up and snatched a fresh cookie off of the tray. Carefully she bit into the still warm cookie, savoring it's perfectly balanced sweetness for a moment before speaking.
"Makoto, my friend, cooking is just one of your many strengths. These are incredible, by the way!"
When the three Princesses mentioned an interest in her performing a fire reading, Rei could not fight the soft rose tint that dusted her cheeks. To most, the idea of watching her give a fire reading would seem boring, but her friends, ever supportive, made it sound like an exciting adventure.
"Actually I had been considering doing one for all of you! I wanted to show you how much I've progressed in my training. And don't worry, Ami, you guys won't distract me. Quite the opposite, in fact! Having you there will help me focus. If you want, I can do one this evening. Hopefully Serenity will be feeling well enough to attend."
When the Venetian Princess mentioned visiting their dear, sick friend, the Princess of Mars nodded in agreement.
"I think that's a great idea. As soon as Makoto is finished we should head over to Serenity's room. Like she said, cookies are best when they are fresh out of the oven!"

"Thanks Rei! Glad you like them." Makoto said as evenly as she could manage. She truly had a hard time handling compliments, but she smiled and blushed all the same.
"That sounds like a great way to start our time here," she commented when Rei mentioned the fire-reading in the evening; though she secretly wondered if their time wouldn't be all eaten up by the ball she was trying to ignore, "I'm hoping we'll get some good omens for our first year here."
Makoto checked the oven again and pulled out her second tray of cookies, "That will do it! Minako, you've always been good with presentation...could you wrap these up nice while I change into something more presentable again? Then I'll be all set to go visit our Princess." she fussed a bit with cleaning up the counters, then stepped away to change.
As she entered her room, she took a long deep breath. She could feel her spirit trying to adjust to being back on the Moon, just bursting with dreams and hopes and fears and expectations. All she could do for now was focus on the task at hand and trust to her friends to keep her grounded. She knew they were all adjusting in some degree and she took comfort in that sense of solidarity. She changed back into her Chinese dress, not yet willing to go with a gown, and rejoined her friends in the common room ready to go.
"Say, Ami?" she asked with a sudden thought, "Do you know anything on flower-tending on the Moon? Or do you have a book maybe? I'm sure it's a little different than back on Jupiter and I just want to make sure I treat the little guys right."

“Oh.” Minako pushed away from the table, moving from her chair at the request. “I’ll do my best.” She said as she came to the other side of the counter, kneeling down she began to rattle through different cupboards. “Not there… not this… maybe this.” She said to herself as she darted from place to place.
It was in that moment that the feeling of homesickness and insecurity swept over her again. She didn’t know where she was going or what the road ahead held. A fire reading would be quite beneficial, even calming perhaps.
“Tell us more about fire readings, Rei. What is the preparation like and how long do they normally last?” She questioned calmly. Now that she had the right materials to carefully plate and wrap the fresh cookies. She used parchment paper, instead of a single sheet, she brought together strips of red, orange, green and blue—which seemed fitting—until all the cookies were covered.
“We can tell Serenity it’s some new form of medication to annoy her, before we let her in these treats.” She winked. She gave a polite nod to Makoto as she re-entered the room.
“Well, what are we waiting for?” She questioned. Were they looking for her to take the lead? She gave the carefully wrapped tray to Makoto. “Only you deserve to present these to Serenity; it’s your hard work.” She smiled and began to make her way out of the room.
“If memory serves me correctly.” She said softly, winding her way left and then right through the endless corridors of the Moon Kingdom. Her fingertips slid along the smooth wood of the door to Serenity’s room. As her eyes looked at the engravings, she thought of standing near this same door way as a child. So many memories.
They all knew each other far too well for formality. Minako opened the door without being announced and without a knock. “We know you’re sick, Serenity. But, we had to see you!” She said kindly. Her gentle expression grew stern as she looked to the gown crumpled on the floor and no Serenity in sight. Her first reaction was that Serenity would merely be in the Dome—an encapsulated area where gardens with lush flora and fauna could be sustained.
As she neared the Princess’s bed, she pulled away at the silk curtains that encircled the space. There was no movement in the sheets, not a single wrinkle. “Serenity…” she whispered. “Are we sure she was even sick?” She questioned, gaze looking to Luna.
Luna jumped upon the bed at that moment, shaking her head. “All I can say is what I heard from the Queen.” She frowned. “To be honest, the Princess has been… restless lately.” She began. “I’ll need to alert the guards and the Queen of this girls. We’ll take care of it.” She said as calmly as she could. But, they all knew Serenity’s free spirit.

Princess Rei's chest swelled with pride at the opportunity to discuss her fire readings.
"Actually, Minako, the most important thing is to be comfortable. Fire readings can take anywhere from a half hour to an entire day so make sure you are dressed in something comfortable."
Princess Makoto hurried out of the room to change while Princess Minako arranged and decoratively wrapped the tray of cookies. The Princess of Mars continued speaking loud enough for the Jovian Princess to hear her.
"The spirit of the fire is, by nature, a chaotic entity and may not wish to provide us with answers right away if at all. Then, once it has shown us all it intends to, we must interpret the message. Sometimes it is very straight forward, other times it is cryptic. The strength of the psychic does have an effect on the reading, but only so much. You will all have to decide what it is you want to ask the sacred fire. Once you've decided I'll have you focus on the question during the reading. And don't worry. Before the reading starts I'll show all of you how to calm your minds and focus your thoughts. I'll be honest, I've never done this with anyone but the High Priestess in the room before but with every reading I do, my gift grows stronger so I'm confident I will be able to answer your questions," she said, her smile beaming.
Once the Princess of Jupiter rejoined them the four Princess of the Inner System made their way out of their common room and towards Princess Serenity's bedroom. Her warm smile turned to an expression of confusion as she followed the Venetian Princess into the room and saw that it was empty. When Princess Minako questioned whether Serenity was actually sick, her gaze shifted to the black feline who had accompanied them.
Princess Rei shook her head and folded her arms across her chest.
"Actually, since we are her newly appointed guardians I think that we should be the ones to handle this. Agreed?" she asked, looking to her fellow Princesses for approval.

Makoto found Rei’s explaination of the fire reading to be fascinating. It wasn’t often that she sought answers outside of herself, but who could resist getting answers from some mysterious source? She wondered what kind of question she, or the group on a whole, would want to ask. She ran through her list of top choices in her mind, “Will they be effective guardians?” , “Will they grow old together with the Princess as friends?” , “Will their skills ever be stretched to the limit?”
That said, she grinned again when the Princess of Mars told them she would be able to teach them how to quiet their minds, “I think that would take a minor miracle for me, but if anyone can pull it off, it’s you. I’m looking forward to this!”
Makoto accepted the tray from Minako with faux formality, smiling, “Thanks Minako; great presentation as usual. Serenity will be beside herself if we trick her into thinking this is medicine. Cookie-flavored medicine! Can’t wait to see the look on her face.” she laughed. Still, she was looking forward to seeing Serenity’s smile. She had a particular way of making them all feel at home and at peace which made her fun to be around.
Her mirth was short-lived, however. Once they discovered the empty room she nearly threw the whole plate on the bed before slamming her firsts together in a state of activation, “Absolutely!” she agreed with Rei, “we only just became her official guardians. No way am I going to just sit around while Serenity is missing!”

Minako gave a careful nod as her gaze narrowed. “I agree. You can’t expect us to sit about, do you Luna?" She questioned, her gaze fell onto Serenity’s bed as Makoto let the tray of cookies slip onto it with a careful bounce.
“We have to remain calm. We don’t want news of this leaking out across the palace. You know these walls have ears and eyes.” She cautioned to the group.
There was silence among the four of them. What were these girls waiting for? Direction? Leadership? Was that her role?
Now it was real. She wasn’t on Venus, and the days of giggling and playing with her fellow Princesses as just young girls confiding in each other seemed distant. They were more now. They were different. They were guardians and their duty would dictate their next actions, and perhaps each waking moment for the rest of their days.
What would become of their relationships? She brought a hand carefully to her lips as she pondered. Would Serenity tolerate their playful friendships translate into careful conversations and checks and balances of the Moon Princess’ actions?
“We’re wasting time.” She determined. “Makoto and Ami, why don’t you join me in checking the surrounding grounds—the ice skating crater, the gardens, the springs. We need to rule out that Serenity isn’t here first.” She said gently, before turning to the Princess of Mars.
“Rei, I hope your chaotic fires are willing to tell us what’s going on. Maybe there’s more to Serenity’s actions that your foresight could help us proactively get under control.” She offered. “I’m happy to join you after a quick check into the surrounding areas – really, any of us would offer any support you’d need for an impromptu fire reading.” She paused.
"Is there anywhere else she'd go that you all can think of?" She questioned.

Rei nodded, glad that the others were in agreement with her. Now was the time to show that Queen Serenity's faith in them was not misplaced. Still, the kingdom was vast and they had no idea where Serenity had gone. Perhaps she should consult the sacred fire...
Rei's ruby lips curved into a grin. The longer they were together, the more in sync they became.
"You read my mind, Minako," she said, gently gathering handfuls of her skirt and hurrying towards the door. "If I find anything I'll send for you. If not, meet me in the fire reading room when you are done searching."
The sound of her heels clicking against the smooth marble floor sent echoes down the near empty hallway. She passed a few servants and guards who bowed respectfully as she passed, but wore expressions of curiosity at her haste. She paid them no mind as she rounded the corner and headed up the stairs that led to their wing. The Princess of Mars swung open the door to the common room, closed it behind her, then hurried into her room, leaving the door open so her friends could come right in when they arrived. She quickly kicked off her heels, then rushed over to the sliding doors of the fire reading room and slid them open in one graceful motion. The warmth of the sacred fire welcomed her as she stepped inside and knelt on her cushion. Rei took a few deep breaths to calm her racing heart and clear her mind before clasping her hands in front of her chest and reciting a prayer to the sacred spirit.
"Sacred spirit of the flame I call to you in this, my time of need. Please, tell me what has become of my dear friend Princess Serenity. I implore you, please answer my prayers."
For a long time the fire cracked and danced, casting shadows along the wall, but the Princess of Mars saw no hint that the sacred fire had heard her.
Stubborn today. Well two can play at this game.
Her deep purple eyes slid closed and Rei focused her mind and energy on Serenity. She reached out with her mind, searching for the missing Princess' energy, focusing on finding her and using as much of her own energy as she spare. Suddenly she felt the warmth of the sacred fire disappear and a cool breeze began to blow around her. Slowly, she opened her deep purple eyes and gasped at the sight around her. She was seated in a field of flowers in a place she did not recognize. Looking around she noticed a few trees dotting the horizon and a huge palace in the distance, but the structure was one she had never seen before. Carefully she stood and began walking towards the tree line, feeling drawn there for some reason. As she made her way through the trees, she found herself looking at a beautiful glistening lake. Her ruby lips curved into a smile as she was overcome with the tranquility of her surroundings. Moving almost without thinking, Princess Rei walked towards the lake until she could feel the cool waters wash over her bare feet. Her lungs inhaled and exhaled deeply, taking in the pleasant, yet foreign smells of her surroundings. As she looked around, a shimmer in the water caught her attention. The ripples caused by her walking into the lake subsided and revealed the shimmering image of the moon reflected on the surface of the water. Rei tilted her head up and her breath caught in her throat. She could see the moon, brilliant and shimmering, from where she stood. It was so full and bright that she felt she might almost touch it if she simply reached out for it. Her head tilted with slight curiosity as she wondered where she could be that she would have such a view of the glorious Moon Kingdom. A sudden realization swept over her when she realized there was but one place close enough for such a view.
She closed her eyes and exhaled and when she opened them she was once again seated in her fire reading room. Exhaustion swept over her and Rei had to catch herself before falling over, beads of sweat running down her face. She had no idea how long she had been meditating but one thing was for sure, that was the most vivid vision she had ever had. Throughout the room she could sense the lingering presence of the sacred fire spirit. The being said not a word, but Princess Rei could sense that it was pleased with her. Rei smiled and gave a quick prayer of thanks to the spirit before it faded and left her with only the warmth of the fire.
Slowly, the Princess of Mars made it to her feet and staggered out of the fire room. She walked over to her wash bin, filled the bowl with cool water, and splashed some on her face. With her face cleaned off and dried, Rei gathered her strength to hide her exhaustion and headed out of her room. The others were still searching, so she left the common room and headed down the hall in search of a guard. On cue, a young man wearing a guard's uniform rounded the corner and Rei called to him.
At her summons, the young man stopped and stared at her wide eyed, shocked that the beautiful Princess Rei was actually speaking to him.
"Guard, I need you to find Princess Minako, Princess Makoto, and Princess Ami. Tell them I must speak with them right away."
"Uh.." the young man stammered. By the Gods, she was even more beautiful up close.
"Today!" Rei growled impatiently.
"A-apologies, Princess! Right away, Princess!" he said bowing apologetically before turning and walking quickly down the hall, mentally chastising himself for his awkwardness.
Rei sighed and shook her head before turning and heading back to the common room in their wing. He must be new.
It was several minutes before all three Princesses were gathered in the common room.
"I found Serenity," she said to the three of them. "She's on Earth."

The Princess of Jupiter nodded with solemnity. Now their little team of guardians felt real, though it felt ironic that their first task was finding the Princess they were supposed to be protecting. Not even publicly recognized and already failing. However, it was important now to think about Serenity. Makoto hoped she was safe, "Serenity couldn't have gone too far if she just wanted some fresh air, right? I'll take the gardens and head to Rei's room one way or the other."
With a brief wave, she left the room and headed toward the gardens of the Moon Kingdom. She kept herself simply at a power-walking pace, lest she draw attention by seeming rushed. Subtlety wasn't usually her strong suit, but she had a reputation for being driven and busy which served her well.
She arrived at the gardens without incident and she gazed around the field of flowers. A lone guard stood by the door where she exited, and tried to catch her attention after the third scan, "Welcome back, Princess Makoto," the guard said trying to broker conversation since she seemed to just be standing outside the door, "I'm sure the gardens do not look much different from what you remember, eh?"
Makoto scanned once more, then turned to the guard, "Have.......any of the other Princesses come through here?" she tried lamely to glean information, "Serenity or the others, I mean?"
The guard looked confused, "I can't say they have. Serenity was here yesterday...but no one else from my shift, my Lady."
"Thanks.." Makoto replied with some awkwardness. She wondered if it would be better to wander the garden to keep up appearances, or else risk suspicion by just rushing back in. She was saved from the choice by the appearance of another guard, apparently sent from Rei, "Princess Makoto!" the newcomer said, looking rushed, "I-I come with a message from Princess Rei. She requests your presence back in her quarters, my Lady." he stammered, catching his breath besides her and the other confused guard.
"Ah, perfect!" Makoto said. This lifted her spirits. It meant that Rei must've found something for them to go off of, "I'll be going then." she tilted her head towards the two of them and left. The guards, for their part, looked at each other and shrugged. With five new princesses running around the castle, they figured things were bound to be more interesting.
Makoto ran back to the common room, slowing to a walk whenever she encountered others in the halls. She was glad to be back behind their doors when they arrived.
The awkward surprises were not over. Makoto's head felt fuzzy when she got Rei's answer, "She's where? Rei....you're sure your fire was lit properly or whatever...right? How...why would she be on Earth of all places?"

Minako moved calmly with purpose. It was her mother who taught her to be like a duck. As a royal, on the surface it was important to maintain an air of calm. But, deep within herself, underneath the surface, she was kicking wildly.
Part of her knew Serenity’s adventurous nature and her wild heart. In that respect, both she and her fellow princess were quite similar. And, Minako could relate to that feeling of wanting to fly free, rather than subdue ones self to constant visibility and judgment.
Responsibility and duty, they were heavy burdens; everyone did the best they could however. Would anywhere on the Moon be able to quench Serenity’s thirst for adventure?
It was in this moment that she wished she could flow freely from all the disconnected pieces of the Moon Kingdom, but she travelled slowly – using transportation aids to survey the large crater where residents of the Moon Kingdom partook in a favorite pastime, figure skating.
At first she circled around the skating arena, trying to determine whether Serenity was among her fellow residents – but it was difficult with the sheer speed and number of bodies that moved effortlessly on the ice.
She frowned momentarily, wishing she had assigned this location to Makoto. Although the woman was perhaps hardened on the outside, she moved with such effortless grace and finesse on the ice.
After lacing up a pair of skates, she began to weave in and out of the groups enjoying the day. “Hm.” She said softly, nodding at those who met her gaze. As one group of young girls greeted her she smiled lightly. “Hello as well. It’s so beautiful today – a truly perfect day to be out skating.” She offered. “You know, I just arrived. I’m surprised Serenity isn’t out here as much as she loves skating. Have you seen her lately?” She questioned vaguely, not to concern them.
And they responded like so many others. None had seen the princess that day. As she was getting off the transportation aid, she caught a glimpse of Makoto and a guard speaking – the pace her friend took from their conversation, Minako could only conclude that Rei was having more luck than any of the others.
“On Earth?!” She questioned, with growing concern. She opened her mouth to continue, but Luna snatched her thoughts first and spoke to the group.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“We must find Serenity quickly. We are all well aware of the laws. Communication between those of the Moon and Earth are forbidden.” Luna interjected.
Minako nodded her head. “We’re all aware of the law at its base, I’m sure. But it’s quite old. Luna, tell us more about this law. If it were so serious, I wouldn’t think Serenity would do such a thing. She’s not one to cause innocent people harm.” She said.
“Well, there’s much to it that’s precautionary in nature. Two very different races, with different ideals, that help eachother from afar. We act better separately than together, because the Moon and Earth are fundamentally different Kingdoms and different people.” She began.
“The longevity and powers that residents of the Moon have are foreign to those on Earth. She could be in great danger if she’s discovered by those who’d take advantage of her.” She grimaced. “Imagine people with no power, suddenly having powers due to exposure from someone from the Moon. We are a passive power. We protect and act only when necessary. We don’t crave power, yet, some on Earth do. It’s a careful balance…” She explained as best as she could.
"Princess of Mars." She bowed her head in respect. Shaking the formality that Luna was used to. "Rei-chan. What exactly did you see in the flames?" She questioned.

Princess Rei grinned and shook her head at the Jovian Princess' question. Had anyone but one of her fellow Princesses made such a bold assumption, she would have been offended.
"Yes, Makoto, I'm sure the fire was properly lit. I understand your confusion though, it just doesn't seem possible."
At the feline's formality, the Princess of Mars shook her head.
"Luna, I've told you hundreds of times to just call me Rei."
Rei heaved a heavy sigh and allowed herself to sink into one of the chairs. Her energy was starting to return, but it was difficult to keep up the act.
"I prayed to the spirit of the fire, but it showed me nothing at first, so instead I concentrated on Serenity's energy and extended my reach as far as possible looking for it. It was then that I was overcome with a vision. I found myself standing in a field of flowers. In the distance was a beautiful castle and a grouping of trees on the horizon. None of this looked familiar to me in any way, and the smells and energy in the air were unlike anything I'd ever experienced before. I was drawn to the tree line so I headed there and found a beautiful shimmering lake on the other side. I walked a ways into the lake and was overcome with a sense of calm and relaxation. It was then that I noticed the moon's reflection in the water. I looked up and the moon itself seemed so close I swear I felt as though I could touch it. Never before had I seen the moon like this, which of course perplexed me. After a few minutes I realized there was only one place that would offer such a view of the Moon Kingdom: Earth. When that realization came over me the vision ended. That's when I sent for everyone."
The Princess of Mars gingerly tucked a lock of hair behind her ear as her deep purple eyes studied the reactions of everyone in the room.
"I don't know how she got there, but at the time of my vision, I didn't sense that she was in any danger. Still, I don't think she should be left alone on a strange planet. Luna, is there any way for us to travel down to Earth in secret? We don't want to draw attention to ourselves if we can help it, but I do want to find Serenity."

Luna sat back, her hind legs bending slightly as her weight shifted. Her ears perked with intensity, listening to Rei recount the fire reading. To herself, there was some hint of sadness. She was Serenity’s escort. She was meant to know where the Princess was, what she was doing, and to continue guiding her on a path toward becoming Queen. Luna knew she was restless, but she had no idea Serenity would be so brash. It was one thing to take solace in the gardens, but skipping out to a planet… that planet was dangerous. She had taught Serenity better.
There was never anger in Luna with the young princess. No. Just concern in what Serenity must be feeling that she’d run so far from all of them. The Princess had been so excited, refreshed even that the Inner System Princesses were officially taking their place in court — and now this.
After a moment of silence between them, Luna shook her head. “Your henshin rods hold the power to teleport each of you wherever you so choose.” She offered. “But, you have to have a clear sense for where you are going. The Earth Kingdom is vast and Serenity could be anywhere.” She reasoned.
“As much as I want to support and help you find her, you simply mustn’t go to Earth.” She declared. “We could create more problems than solutions if you pop up on Earth in a bad spot, with untrusting people. And then we’d have the issue of trying to rub over your appearance on the planet and Serenity’s.” She frowned. “Serenity knows the laws. If she keeps to herself and then comes back after she’s found whatever solace she was seeking… that’s the best course of action at this point.” She added sternly, stressing this was not up for discussion.
“For the time being, I suggest each of you follow your course of duties as if Serenity was still in her bed, feeling unwell.” She stretched her hind legs, moving toward the other women. “It’s time to get fitted for your ball gowns. Let’s keep this development between us for now. While you go, I’ll work with others I can trust in the Palace to see what I can do subtly and quietly. We don’t want word of any of this spreading throughout the kingdom.”

“You are so much more than you assume to be.” Haruka muttered to the sleeping girl as they appeared upon Serenity’s balcony. The doors still hung open from her earlier investigations, allowing them to enter the room effortlessly. Approaching the Princess’ grand bed, she gently laid her upon the covers pausing to ensure that no harm had befallen her upon her watch. Swallowing hard, she leaned over, watching the rise and fall of the sleeping woman’s chest, a sense of relief rushed over her. The moment of fear that had struck her upon hearing about the bear attack still had her adrenaline coursing through her veins. Leaning towards Serenity’s ear, she whispered again, “Do try to behave yourself this time, Princess.”
Turning away, she stalked swiftly to the door and slipped out into the hallway. The chatter of the Inner Senshi once again echoed throughout the hall. Were they completely daft? Did they even realize that Serenity took off about the galaxy while under their watch? Against her better judgment, since her role was to remain hidden in all ways, she headed towards the sound, entering the room. A tall brunette stood nearest to her, Haruka slipped behind her and gripped her upper arm a bit roughly before speaking, her tone condescending and reprimanding at best.
“I’m sure you ladies will be pleased to know that Serenity is safely asleep in her bed. Perhaps it would be in your best interest to spend less time baking cookies….” A wry smirk could be seen just beneath the shadow that the navy hood cast across her eye line, “And to spend that time watching over your Princess.” She paused, glancing to the surprised faces of the young inner senshi. They were so innocent, so charming, so sweet. Perhaps that is why they would never fully grasp the gravity of their station. Continuing, “For, If I understand correctly… that is your main purpose here…?” Sighing, she released Makoto’s arm and turned away, beginning her exit. “She’s too adventurous for her own good. Watch closer… However, should you fail again, I will be there to once again pick up the pieces…”
The wry smirk didn’t leave her lips as she took off down the hallway, towards Queen Serenity. By the time the girls attempted to catch her, she’d be long gone. One simply couldn’t catch the wind. The wind had to want to be caught. Unfortunately for them, she didn’t want to be caught. Haruka paused in front of the Queen’s chamber before pushing the doors open and lowering her hood.
Dropping to her left knee, the guardian glanced up at Queen Serenity. “Princess Serenity is safe and well. A bit exhausted, but no harm has come to her. I left her in her chamber and alerted her Senshi to her return.” Swallowing hard, the sandy blonde woman awaited the Queen’s reply, hoping that she had completed the mission as expected.

Luna’s calmly reasoned instructions did nothing but rise ire in Makoto, “Are you serious, Luna? We’re just supposed to sit around drinking tea until Serenity just shows up again? We leave our homes, we receive power, just to not do anything the very first time the Princess is in danger? If I’m in the Princess’ honor guard, I damn well—“
The rough grab of a foreign hand peaked her reactive impulse until the cold, condescending voice splashed on her – and possibly all the Princesses’ – psyches. Her head spun to see the half-shadowed invader. Her breath caught, though her anger increasingly rose as first her cooking hobby was insulted and then her role as a guardian. When the other finally exited the room, her spell was broken and Makoto flew into a rage, “Son of a--Come back here!”
Before anyone else could stop her, the Jovian Storm Princess rushed to the door and threw it open, intending to veritably tackle the blue-clad jerk to the ground and pound some information out of him. However—
“Princess Makoto! Oooh, it has been such a long time! You’re not going anywhere, are you….we were just coming to make the final fit for your gowns for the ball. I can see you have kept up your…lean figure.”
A blockade of five middle aged women and colorful fabric barred Makoto’s path. Even in the wide hallways of the Palace, they left no wiggle room.
“I, uh, just forgot something.” Makoto replied, able to peer over their shoulders to look desperately for the intruder. There was no sight of him.
“These are your quarters, are they not?” the seamstress replied confusedly.
“They…..are. You know what, I’ll get it later…” Makoto sighed, realizing there was no way to quickly explain herself without causing a scene and that her target was already long gone. It was the perfect excuse to avoid the dressing…and she couldn’t do anything about it. She turned dejectedly and went back through the door.
“The seamstresses are here.” She said in a flat tone as if someone had announced they had surprise homework. Then she entered and plopped heavily on the couch besides Rei.
